Mission Statement

The Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Centre is committed to ensure that each assessment entrusted to us utilizes the most qualified assessors applying the most authoritative medical expertise available. Our professional and unbiased assessment incorporates common sense and compassion while considering the dignity and individuality of each claimant.

HISTORY

Dr. Arthur Ameis, our founder, first opened his practice to provide medical and extended assessments to the insurance and legal communities in 1983. MDAC opened its doors in April of 1993, and, over the years, we have become a respected provider of high quality medical assessments to a wide assortment of clients.

We were first authorized by the Province of Ontario to operate a Multi Disciplinary Designated Assessment Centre in April 1994. Our centre received a designation to conduct multi-disciplinary Medical/ Rehabilitation DAC assessments, Disability DAC assessments, and DAC Catastrophic Impairments Determinations, and was engaged in these assessments for clients until March 2006, when the DAC system was discontinued. Since that time, we have conducted assessments for a wide variety of clients as an independent assessment centre.

Each assessor participating in our centre's multi-disciplinary assessment activities is senior and respected within his or her own profession, as well as within the medical, legal and communities at large.

Most of our clinicians are also providing disability related assessments to major provincial and federal institutions such as WSIB and Canada Pension Plan.

Our assessors' professional activities reflect the MDAC philosophy of maintaining a proactive approach to and leadership in the field of disability assessment - many serving on the boards of organizations such as Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators and the Ontario Medical Association Section Executives as well as other similar bodies serving specialty disciplines.

Having performed a large number of individual and multi-disciplinary DAC evaluations, our assessment centre is well versed in the procedures and medico-legal issues involved in assessing physical and psychological disability during the chronic stage of injury. We have in place a mature and effective infrastructure, including human, administrative, procedural and material resources essential for the optimal fulfillment of our mandate. Our assessors are always prepared to support their conclusions by testifying in any legal forum, and have done so on a number of occasions with great success.

Our facility comprises of approximately 5,600 sq. ft. of professional accommodation, with ample state of the art facilities, and is centrally located in North West Toronto near major highways and public transportation. For clients from outside Toronto, hotel and shopping facilities are close by.

Our twenty years of professional experience has placed us in the position to offer outstanding service and has earned us a solid reputation in the community.
